MyBudget: Personal Budgeting and Debt Help Since 1999: About MyBudget
MyBudget is an Adelaide-founded personal budgeting and money management service. Founded in 1999 by Tammy Barton, we now help more than 130,000 Australians take control of their money, reduce debt, and build savings.
Our story
In 1999, Tammy Barton was 22 years old and working at a debt collection service in Adelaide. Every day she watched Australians of all incomes and backgrounds crushed by financial stress. She kept seeing the same thing: people did not need advice, they needed a system and someone to help them run it.
She started MyBudget at her kitchen table, handwriting budgets and paying bills for clients one at a time. When demand outgrew what any one person could do by hand, she mortgaged her own home to fund the development of software that would automate the mechanics.
Twenty-five years on, more than 130,000 Australians have lived free from money worries with our support.
Leadership
MyBudget is led by our founder and Director, Tammy Barton. She sits on the BankSA Advisory Board and has been recognised with the Telstra Business Woman of the Year (South Australia), the Australian Government Business Innovation Award, and Ernst and Young Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Central Region.

MyBudget was built on a simple idea: that traditional banking helps people look backward, not forward. Everyone deserves a system that helps them plan ahead, a coach who genuinely wants them to succeed, and the confidence that comes from knowing what the next 12 months look like.
